Booster, Child, Car car seat law change.

California Law (Effective 01/01/2012):

Children *MUST* be secured in an appropriate child passenger restraint (safety seat or booster seat) IN THE BACK SEAT OF A VEHICLE until they are at least 8 YEARS OLD or 4′ 9″ in height.
This is the new law, but there is more to it that people are not told about enough. Here at Cribs 2 Teens we have certified car seat technicians on staff 7 days a week, to help our customers with all these details and personal installation training & assistance.

Safety Belt Fit Test a great tool for Parents

These are the things you need to check with your child in each vehicle your child ever sits in;
When your child reaches 4 feet 9 inches and 80 to 100 pounds, use the Safety Belt Fit Test to determine if the child is big enough to use the adult seat belt without a booster. Use the Safety Belt Fit Test on every child under 13.
The Safety Belt Fit Test
Have your child sit in a back seat with their bottom and back against the vehicle’s seat back.  Do the child’s knees bend at the seat’s edge?  If yes, go on. If not, the child must stay in a booster seat.
Buckle the seat belt.  Does the lap belt stay low on the hips?  If yes, go on.  If it rests on the soft part of the stomach, the child must stay in a booster seat.
Look at the shoulder belt. Does it lay on the collarbone and shoulder? If yes, go on. If it is on the face or neck, the child must remain in a booster seat.
Never put the shoulder belt under the child’s arm or behind the child’s back. Do not allow children to play with the shoulder portion of a seat belt. Treat it like any cord.
Can the child maintain the correct seating position with the shoulder belt on the shoulder and the lap belt low across the hips? If yes, the child has passed the Safety Belt Fit Test. If no, the child should return to a booster seat and re-test in a month.
SEAT BELTS
Once your child passes the Safety Belt Fit Test, require him or her to use seat belts in a back seat on every ride, whether or not you are there. A lap AND shoulder belt provides the best protection to your child and must be used on every ride.

Finding the perfect stroller

Your baby’s stroller is one of the most important baby gear purchases you will make. Choosing the right one is a lot like buying a pair of shoes/or car—your lifestyle and activities can make all the difference in finding a perfect fit.
The options can be overwhelming, but if you determine your priorities, explore your choices, and “try before you buy,” you can be assured of making the right decision. Begin by analyzing your lifestyle. Here are just a few things to consider:
• What types of activities do you enjoy? Do you see yourself including your baby in these activities?
• Where will you use your stroller the most? Indoors or out? Flat or hilly terrain? Walking, jogging or running?
• Will you be getting in and out of the car often?
• Will you be using mass transit or traveling by air frequently with your baby?
Since there are many stroller manufacturers out there, it’s a good idea to choose a category before focusing in on a brand. Strollers typically fit into one or more of these: umbrella, lightweight/compact, carriage, jogger, rugged/all-terrain, full-size single, and travel systems which include an infant car seat.
Different categories of strollers are preferable for different activities. You may find that your lifestyle requires more than one stroller to adequately meet your needs.
For example, while jogging strollers are great for outdoor activities and walking over rougher terrain, they may be cumbersome for trips to the mall. Lightweight strollers tend to be preferred for travel but don’t perform as well at the park or on a sandy beach.

The Mamaroo is not just another infant seat

mamaRoo

Like all 4moms products, the mamaRoo is truly remarkable.

From planning to production, it was shaped by the expertise of designers, doctors, nurses, and most importantly, hundreds of parents.

4Moms a great team of 5 used motion sensors to measure movements of real moms and dads as they soothed their babies, and guess what they found? Parents don’t vibrate like bouncy seats or swing like swings. They bounce and sway. So they built the mamaRoo
to do just that – to move “like you do.”

This isn’t just another infant seat. It is made just for yours.
